Service Offerings
Support for Portfolio Management, including Remediation, Transactional and Cost Recovery Activities
Our environmental due diligence investigative work supports decision-makers for merger, acquisition, and divestiture activities; business planning and financial reporting(e.g., FAS 5, FIN 47, FAS 157, IAS 37, GASB 49); insurance (cost recovery, underwriting, and claim support); and legal action, with both expert testimony and litigation support. If remediation is needed, we tailor combinations of conventional and innovative remedial technologies to optimize removal rates, costs, and timeframes. Our research partnerships advance the state-of-the-art in the use of natural systems to meet remediation objectives, technologies for addressing recalcitrant contaminants and vapor intrusion of chlorinated solvents, and waste containment strategies.
Support to Minimize On-going Environmental Risk and Costs
We have significant experience with designing, implementing, and auditing Environmental Management Systems (EMS) including many that lead to ISO14001 certification. Our EMS strategy at the Denver Federal Center helped win a “GSA Achievement Award for Real Property Innovation in Sustainability”. We also help our clients eliminate or reduce waste and pollutants and increase efficiency in the use of water, energy, and raw materials. With Geosyntec’s assistance, Robins Air Force Base saved an estimated $3.25M annually through sustainability efforts. Geosyntec also specializes in management of potential losses from natural and man-made hazards to minimize their social, environmental, and economic impact.
Support for Environmentally Forward Thinking Clients
We were among the first to incorporate sustainability practices such as green building design, measuring and aggregating carbon emissions credits, and product stewardship into comprehensive environmental management services. When properties are ready to be repurposed, such as redevelopment of underutilized properties, Geosyntec provides specialized technical services to promote sustainable economic redevelopment through the conversion of environmentally-impacted properties to end uses that keep environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and beneficial reuse in mind. Our air, water, and wastewater management expertise provides a foundation for our clients to address anticipated regulatory changes and capital improvements in a proactive, cost-effective, and timely manner.
Why Geosyntec?
Geosyntec’s affiliation with major universities, research organizations, and other funders enables us to continue to advance the state of the practice in many areas. This allows us to combine practical approaches with proven innovation to provide maximum value to our clients. For example, the National Science Foundation (NSF) recognized our expertise in environmental liability valuation (ELV) when it funded Geosyntec to conduct cutting-edge research to develop numerical modeling tools for quantifying the value of liabilities associated with a portfolio of environmentally impaired properties using a sophisticated financial technique used to estimate the value of futures and derivatives.
